Florida is proposing to crackdown on puppy mills that mistreat animals by imposing heavy fines.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is calling on state lawmakers to develop standard practices to ensure ethical dog breeding during the upcoming 2026 Legislative Session.
DeSantis’ proposal calls for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to work together to make sure dog breeders are licensed and hold them accountable if they abuse dogs.
